How We’re Downsizing Our Life Before Traveling For An Extended Trip

Bright living room featuring two armchairs, a central fireplace, and full white bookshelves.

I’ve seen so many decluttering challenges and well intended, hopeful participants looking forward to the simpler lifestyle, myself included.

How does one accumulate so much…stuff?

We have moved houses a few times and each time we downsize. Yet, it never seems to look, or feel, any different. I imagine because the spaces are always similar and when you have the space, you fill it with stuff.

Well this time if different, very different.

We are downsizing everything we own to fit into the RV or into the storage unit. That’s it. And let me tell you, it’s overwhelming at times.

However, the plan of attack is going to be simple.

Everything we need goes into the RV. Everything that has sentimental value or will be cost more to replace if we need it in the future goes into storage.

Everything else gets its first shot at giveaway. After that, it’s into the garbage.

And the key to what can come into the RV is that it has to have a ‘spot’. If the RV is overly cluttered it will be miserable to move things around to get to other things.

We are nearing the deadline to get this whole processed finished.

The race is on but the finish line is near!

Until next time…
